Your Half Moon Bay Lady Cougars overcame a slow first quarter as the Mercy Skippers jumped out to an early 19-10 lead. The next two quarters were a different story as HMB played with energy and enthusiasm on defense. The chaos was lead by seniors Mailie Bowers and Abby Urban. Both took ownership of the situation and team. They willed and encouraged the young Lady Cougars to an impressive 30-3 run in the second and third quarters. During that run, turnovers turned into transition baskets and half court play was capped with rhythm jumpers. They established what makes Half Moon Bay Lady Cougar Basketball successful … competitive young ladies playing for each other.

Freshman Abby Kennedy continued her impressive play with an unofficial 21 points. Mailie Bowers (Sr) had 17 points, Genevieve Belmonte (So) tallied in 8 points, Abby Urban (Sr) dropped 6, and Sierra Young (Fr) had 2.

Next up for the Half Moon Bay Lady Cougars is another road game at Windsor HS in Windsor, CA. Tip-off time is 5pm.
