Half Moon Bay traveled to San Mateo Tuesday afternoon. HMB started out the game flat, and San Mateo took advantage to score in the bottom of the first. Starter Danny Guevara settled down, and pitched well without his best stuff. The Cougars woke up in the top of the 5th as a rally was started by a Coleman Colucci walk, and a Jake Perkins bunt. David Fisher then hit a hard ball up the middle that was misplayed by the 2nd baseman to score Colucci. Peter Popiel singled in Perkins with a 2-out RBI. Jared Mettam then worked a walk to score Fisher. Jack Mettam drove in 2 more to make it 5-1 Half Moon Bay. San Mateo would answer with a run in the bottom of the 5th to keep the game close. Popiel added an RBI double in the 6th scoring pinch runner Tristan Hofmann. Dwyer Lewis entered in relief of Guevara and he did not allow a run in the final 2 innings to seal the victory for HMB. Guevara earned the win recording 4 strikeouts with only 2 runs allowed. Popiel led the offense going 3-4 with a double and 2 RBI. Jack Mettam added 2 RBI. HMB improves to (18-5, 8-3).
