Half Moon Bay hosted Escalon Saturday morning in a non league contest. Sophomore Lukas Meighen started his first varsity game on the mound for HMB. Meighen did a great job striking out 4 batters in his first three innings. Preston McAuley doubled in the third, and later scored on a Jake Perkins single. Meighen pitched a scoreless 4th and was relieved by Josh Dybalski. Dybalski threw a clean 5th inning to keep HMB in control. Half Moon Bay started a rally with Jack Mettam and Perkins being hit by a pitch. Coleman Colucci knocked Mettam in, and Danny Guevara drove them both in with a single to right field. Dybalski threw a scoreless 6th, and the Cougars picked up some more runs. Sophomore Todd Damrosch started the rally with a single followed by a Casildo Guevara bunt. Mettam drove them in with a deep double to left field. Mettam scored on another single from Colucci to bring the score to 7-0. Escalon picked up 2 runs in the 7th but Dybalski was able to get the final out. Meighen earned the win in his first Varsity start. Colucci, Damrosch, Owen Murray and Danny Guevara all had 2 hits. HMB improves to (11-4, 3-3).
