Carmel’s JT Byrne was contained to 6 points on 2 of 5 shooting and HMB sizzled, making 12 of its first 22 shots committing only 3 turnovers in the half. This time, the field goal accuracy held up in the second half (11 for 22), but the defensive intensity fell off. The Cougars gave up thirty seven 2nd half shots to the Padres, many of which led to 2nd and 3rd chance baskets and committed ten 2nd half turnovers. Byrne responded with 16 second half points and finished with a game high 22 points on 9 of 16 shooting.
