The second half of league play for the JV Cougar Volleyball team started off with a bang as the Cougars extend their unbeaten league record to 8-0.

The first set saw the Cougars jump out to an early lead and immediately run away with the game. Outstanding serving by Mayah Johnson, Meagan Mitchell, and Jasmine Standez led Half Moon Bay to an easy win at 25-9.

The second set was a much different story. The Westmoor Rams came out firing and battled fiercely with the lead changing hands several time during the set. Then the Cougars went on a major scoring run behind the serving of Nori Carpenter to bring the score to 23-16. And although the Rams engaged in a big comeback late in the set, it was too little, too late and the Cougars closed out the second set and the match 25-23.

Offensive standouts for the Cougars were Nori Carpenter with 3 Aces and 4 Kills and Jasmine Standez with 2 Aces and 2 Kills. The Defense was led by Mikaela Sendino with 17 Digs and Joey Vetrone with 10 Digs.

The Cougars play next at Capuchino on Thursday, 10/10.
