The Cougars hosted the Sequoia Ravens, the only other team undefeated in League, and ended up sweeping the Ravens 2-0, moving the Cougars to 7-0 in League and 15-4 overall.

The first set started with the Cougars taking an immediate lead and never relinquishing it. Strong offensive performances by Jasmine Standez and Hannah Paik led the Cougars to an easy 25-17 set win.

The second set saw the Ravens come out with a strong run to start and take advantage of Cougar errors to take a huge 12-4 lead early in the set. But the Cougars finally settled down and methodically started making their way back in the game, finally tying the game 20-20. The Cougars then pushed through the last few points to take the final set 25-23 and closed out the match.

The Cougar offense was led by Hannah Paik with 6 Kills and 1 Ace, Nori Carpenter with 4 Kills and 1 Ace, and Emily Jenar with 4 Kills. The Defense was led by Iris Grant with 5 Blocks, Mikaela Sendino with 7 Digs, and Jasmine Standez and Conner Black each with 6 Digs. And a special shout-out to our two Setters, Meagan Mitchell and Joey Vetrone who dominated both the Serving and Setting game for the Cougars.

The Cougars play this Saturday starting at 8:00am in the Pumpkin Classic tournament hosted by HMBHS.
