The JV Cougars Boys moved to 6-3 in PAL competition Wednesday night in Half Moon Bay with a convincing win against the El Camino Colts 50-26. The next game and the third this week is in Daly City against Westmoor, the team ahead of HMB in the standings, as part of a Friday night Quad.
The Cougars Wednesday game was workmanlike, with consistent scoring each quarter (13, 12, 14, 11) and defense that started a bit porous then stiffened to the more typical level forcing the Colts to only score single digits per quarter after the first (10, 7, 4, 5).
Kris Reyes paced the JV Cougars in scoring for the second game in a row with 13 points all on drives to the hoop. Nohea Sharp was unstoppable with 10 points on drives to the soft middle of the El Camino defense and on breakaway layups. Zeke Syme, Luke Longaker, and Owen Wooliever each pitched in 6 points mostly on short shots and layups. Cougar rebounding was once again strong with Wooliever (9), Longaker (4), and Kai Guevara (4) leading the way.
Notable sequences to finish off the 4th quarter were Preston Dimas ripping three offensive rebounds and making a bucket in a single sequence and Coleman Symes collecting two rebounds.
