Half Moon Bay played host to Sequoia Friday afternoon. HMB jumped on Sequoia in the 1st inning. Luke Outman singled and scored from first on a big RBI double by Dawson Campbell. Tristan Hoffman worked a walk to bring up Jack Mettam. Mettam hit a line drive just over the first baseman’s reach that rolled all the way to the wall for a 2 RBI triple. Starting pitcher Noah Gandelman was brilliant on the mound. He had command over all his pitches, allowing 1 earned run over six innings. Sequoia cut the lead to 1 in the 6th, but the Cougars answered with 3 more runs in the bottom of the 6th. Casildo Guevara was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. Outman came up with a clutch 2 out single to score Guevara. Jakob Meighen smoked a line drive to keep the rally going. Campbell drove in Outman with a single, and Hoffman singled in Meighen to cap off the big inning. Alex Smith came in to shut the door in the 7th. HMB is now 6-2 to start the season.
