Multiple Teams · Cross Country Advances to State!

The HMB Varsity Girls Cross Country team advanced to the CIF Division 4  State Championship meet by finishing 3rd at the CCS Championship Meet. The event was held Saturday, November 16th at Crystal Springs Cross Country Park in Belmont.

The Cougars were led by senior Kendall Mansukhani.  Kendall came from behind with a great kick to capture 3rd place.  She ran the race in a personal best for her on this course, breaking 19 minutes for the first time in her career.   Just seconds behind her was the University of California bound senior Claire Yerby in 9th place.   Sophomore Jayda Bodas was our 3rd runner in 30th, followed very closely by fellow soph Natalie Curthoys in 34th.  Frosh Olivia Perez-Foster was only steps behind her in 36th with junior Layne Faust pushing her at 39th and soph Anna Bikle in 57th.  There were over 100 racers who started the race.

At the 2 mile mark in the race, HMB was in 4th place.  They all ran great last miles in the 3-mile race to pass San Lorenzo Valley for third place, missing a 2nd place finish by 1 point. The entire group contributed to securing a 2nd straight CIF State  Team Appearance.

They will compete on Saturday, November 30 at Woodward Park in Fresno, CA. Go Cougars!
