Cougars News · Historic Night For Varsity, JV Cross Country


An amazing night for HMBHS XC Team. Kendall Mansukhani and Claire Yerby placed 1 and 2 respectively at the prestigious Woodbridge Invitational. Kendall and Claire ran the race working as a team, they moved up from 25th place at the start of the race to top 5 positioning by mile 1 of the race. At 2 miles both Claire and Kendall sat in 2nd place. With less than a half-mile to go, they took over the lead. Kendall legged it out for a two-second win over her teammate and friend.

 

On the boys’ side, Kenny Jones and Harrison Nash medaled in the Sophmore division. In the Varsity race, all 6 HMB runners medaled. Arthur Mackenzie led the pack followed by Thomas Hurrell, Kohei Tanaka, Charlie Vail, Josh Warner-Carey, and Nick Moore.

The JV Girls also had an extremely strong showing winning the JV Girls Team field. Strong performances from Jayda Bodas (8th place finish), Layne Faust, Emma Steadman, Julia Minkstein, Natalie Curthoys, Isabel Vazquez (all medaled)  led to HMB winning its first-ever team title at the Woodbridge Invitational.
